In November 1999, Chef Splichal sold his Patina Group chain to Restaurant Associates of New York for $40 million. In 2006, Splichal, Nick Valenti (formerly of Restaurant Associates) and Japanese foodservice firm Shidax Corporation bought it back for $90 million.
